I have no hesitation in recommending Mountainwise for school Duke of Edinburgh facilitation. Queen’s College London have used the organisation for the past 2 years for both Bronze and Silver expeditions. This experience has been extremely positive.
Moutainwise is a professional organisation who provides highly qualified staff to instruct, support and supervise the students involved. Of greatest benefit is the satisfaction that the students get from participating in the mountainwise Duke of Edinburgh program. Thanks to the mountainwise program the students are greatly prepared for the expeditions and on completion of their bronze award are inspired to continue to the silver award.
Not only is the mountainwise staff highly qualified but they are extremely competent at dealing with and instructing teenagers; qualities which makes the expeditions enjoyable for both the students involved and the teachers accompanying them.

Mountainwise provide an excellent service by co-ordinating and running the expedition section of The Award in our school. The team came to our school several times to thoroughly brief the pupils on how to plan their expedition by foot and fully trained them to use maps and other pieces of necessary equipment. After the pupils returned from their practise expedition they were extremely confident and excited about completing their assessment expedition and were fully prepared to do so. The Mountainwise team have been incredibly helpful in between visits especially when I have needed advice and information. I highly recommend using them as they are very efficient and professional.

My daughter did her Gold DofE expeditions with Mountainwsie and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The staff was efficient and helpful and from start to finish everything ran very smoothly. If we did encounter any problems they were dealt with calmly by Ann. Nothing was too much trouble. Lee and James trained and prepares the group for their expeditions. This can be the part in the proceedings where a lot of teenagers switch off but that was most definitely not the case. The group was a good size and they all huddled together, learning, laughing and having fun while James and Lee drummed all the necessary information into them. I felt that the girls were extremely well prepared for any eventuality and happily waved my daughter off on her expedition knowing that she would be safe.
The girls returned, diryt, smelly and exhausted and were justly proud of their achievement. They had worked well together as a team and had all of the right tools to get them through an exhausting 5 days. The biggest compliment to Mountainwise came from the expedition assessor whose assessment in the girls log book was ‘ the participant was a member of one of the most prepared groups I have ever assessed at gold level’. Attention to detail from packing of the equipment, navigation and group spirit was exemplary. A most notable achievement conducted and executed in a very professional manner.
Mountainwise offer a first class product from start to finish and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
